Mobile gambling statistics: useful information for casino operators

It's no secret that almost all industries are going into virtual reality.  On top of that, most "zoomers" and even "millennials" - people born in 1984 and later - are abandoning computers and laptops.  These devices are associated with work, with the office, and with the fulfillment of tasks from the boss.  However they prefer to have fun with cell phones. Therefore, online casinos and iGaming sphere is also moving not just to the Internet, but also to mobile devices.H2 Gambling Capital provided interesting statistics on the development of this sector.

The revenue has grown by 100 billion dollars

The counting has been done since the early 2010s when smartphones capable of more than just making calls and sending messages first appeared.  Of course, mobile Internet was still in its infancy in many countries at that time - it was slow and expensive.  And the phones were not distinguished by a special power that would allow you to run graphics-intensive games.

Nevertheless, the first signals of change in this direction have already appeared. And by 2018, the online industry brought about 20 billion dollars a year to companies. By 2023, the amount brought by virtual casinos exceeded 60 billion dollars.

The trend is continuing. Experts believe that by 2028, mobile app revenue will reach $120 billion a year.

Growth is stable in all regions

The leader is Africa. It is there that the greatest interest in gambling through mobile applications is observed. Perhaps this is because locals do not have the opportunity, and tradition, to visit "real" casinos, while a European can go to the UK.Nevertheless, Europe tightly occupies the second place. Betting and gambling with the help of mobile gadgets are also actively developing here.

The third place went to Asia and the Middle East. The Asian region is greatly influenced by China. Formally, gambling is prohibited there, but there are many ways to circumvent this ban. Including more or less legal - a trip to Macau, an independent region. True, there is just a "live" casino located there.

61.1% of all virtual gambling activity is sports betting.  This trend will continue, the statistics take into account the standard development options until 2028. In second place are lotteries.  It is no longer necessary to harm the environment by purchasing paper tickets. You can buy an electronic one. Lotteries account for 28.7 percent of virtual activity. But casinos are still a bit behind - 10 percent of users use mobile gadgets. The rest either stay loyal to computers or travel to live establishments. However, analysts predict that it is behind the rapid growth of virtual games on mobile devices in the future. The projected growth is up to 18 percent.

By 2028, 60% of users will be using mobile apps

Analysts at H2 Gambling Capital drew this conclusion using information from previous years. The trend is still unchanged. Even now, in 2023, more than forty percent of players use mobile gadgets for betting or casino games. Now, mobile apps are growing at an average of 15.7% per year. However, according to experts, the rate will only increase. Fewer and fewer people use computers and laptops on a regular basis. But cell phones are becoming the main source of entertainment due to their power, large screen, and availability of mobile internet
