Churchill Downs Inc. (CDI) has launched its new Derby City Gaming racecourse in the heart of Derby, investing $90 million in the project.
This is the sixth Churchill establishment in the state. The racecourse features three cafes, 130 parking spaces, and an exterior 3D advertising panel. The company has hired over 400 service staff members. More than $14 million has been invested in the racecourse infrastructure, as reported by the organization.
CDI CEO Bill Carstanjen expressed pride in the outcome. “The project will not only impact Kentucky’s horse industry but will also bring new energy to the city,” he said.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear also highly praised the new racecourse in downtown Louisville. He emphasized that the site symbolizes Kentucky’s racing heritage.
