FIFA President threatens football players for violating betting laws

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has warned players of potential consequences for breaking betting regulations, with a sports official stating that the International Football Federation will not allow those who engage in betting activities.

“Players should be aware that they should not place bets. In football, in rugby - in any sport. When this happens, uncompromising investigations are carried out and very serious decisions are made, strict measures are introduced against the player who made the bets. And this applies to football at all levels, including amateur,” the FIFA head recalled.

Infantino addressed inquiries regarding the Brazilian national team and Lucas Paqueta of West Ham. The Football Association of England is presently examining a potential rule violation by the player related to betting activities.

We are talking about several matches in the 2022-23 and 2023-23 English Premier League seasons. However, Paqueta denies these accusations.

Euro 2024 and the Copa América will end on July 14, followed by the Olympic Games in Paris on July 24. Just a reminder that Brazil secured the Olympic gold medal in football in the previous two Games.
