The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has agreed to extend its long-term partnership with sports data and technology company Genius Sports. The organization has committed to sharing its innovations and artificial intelligence programs with the federation over a ten-year period to develop basketball leagues around the world.
FIBA hopes that Genius Sports will transform the entire ecosystem of basketball data. The company will have to provide a single solution for automating and synchronizing the collection of real-time game statistics. Leagues and national basketball federations will have access to an automated AI-based system for the first time in history.
The new system that Genius Sports is planning to create could be useful for betting if it is made public. Another technology company, Sportradar, previously promised to make an application that would allow players to get analytics and information about tennis players to better calculate their bets.
