Study Links Nationality, Racism, and Gambling Harm

The British research firm GambleAware has drawn connections between ethnicity, racism, and the harm caused by gambling. According to the experts, avid black gamers are 50% more likely to experience racism or discrimination compared to players of European descent.

The research was conducted using the Ipsos UK and ClearView Research survey services. The results indicated that minority communities are three times more likely than native Britons to use gambling as a way to cope with life’s challenges. Some respondents admitted to being bullied for both their nationality and their affinity for gambling.

The foundation aims to reduce inequality in the industry by standing against the bullying and discrimination of certain groups of players.
