A recent study conducted by analytics company YouGov, with funding from Stats Perform and Women's Sports Group, indicates that women's sports are becoming increasingly appealing to both male and female bettors. The survey involved 2,500 men and 2,500 women in the UK, showcasing a shared interest in additional betting opportunities for women's sports.
The findings reveal that over 60% of women and 46% of men expressed a desire to bet more frequently on women's football. Furthermore, approximately 60% of respondents from both genders actively follow developments in the women's sports industry, while maintaining an interest in men's sports as well.
Among male respondents who don't bet on women's football, 38% revealed they had never considered it, and 34% cited a lack of knowledge about the sport's specifics as a deterrent. The study highlights a potential growth opportunity for the betting industry in promoting women's sports.
