Experts from the Stop Gambling Foundation predict that the Euro 2024 football championship, which starts on June 14 in Munich, Germany, will attract more sports bettors than Euro 2020 with a projected increase of 51%.
The highly anticipated football event will run until July 14, with the final match taking place in Berlin. Prior to the tournament, a spokesperson for the Stop Gambling Foundation in Thailand predicted a substantial up tick in football betting activity.
According to Thanakorn Komkrit, secretary general of the Stop Gambling Foundation, the organisation predicts that Euro 2024 will draw in 51% more participants than Euro 2020. The reason for this increase, as explained by the researcher, is that football enthusiasts have a penchant for betting as it adds an extra layer of excitement to the game.
The executive director of the Stop Gambling Foundation cited data for Thailand, according to which 80% of players aged 20 to 30 years old have increased their spending on betting. These are usually young people who have jobs and are considering investing more money in gambling.
