A 43-year-old man, John Paul Thornton, is set to face trial for allegedly robbing a Ladbrokes bookmaker's office in the Irish city of Cork. The accusation states that Thornton stole €500 from the Ladbrokes branch located on Pearse Road.
Thornton's attorney, Frank Buttimer, has requested additional evidence regarding the robbery before considering the possibility of filing a signed guilty plea.
Ladbrokes, as Ireland's most popular bookmaker, maintains five branches throughout the city of Cork. While the court did not provide specifics on how Thornton carried out the theft of €500, Police Sergeant Pat Lyons mentioned that the man would be sentenced at the Cork Circuit Criminal Court.
