ANJ Issues Warning on Illegal Online Casinos via Facebook

The French National Gaming Authority (ANJ) has cautioned against illegal online casino advertisements on Facebook. The regulator revealed that illicit gambling platforms employ fake accounts featuring licensed operators' images and logos. Over a hundred such pages have been removed by Facebook's administration.

These fake profiles were created in November 2023, redirecting users to stores for downloading applications from unauthorized online casinos. The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) previously urged the French government to legalize online casinos, with ANJ estimating the illegal gambling market turnover in the country at €748 million to €1.5 billion.
