ATG Expresses Concern Over Declining Number of Legal Operators in Sweden
Aktiebolaget Trav och Galopp (ATG), the former Swedish horse racing monopoly, has raised concerns about the continuous decrease in the number of approved operators in the country's gambling sector. Despite the Swedish government's efforts to attract customers to legal gambling channels, ATG has highlighted the persistent trend of declining operator numbers.
In a recent report, ATG publicly voiced its worries about the detrimental impact of the unlicensed gambling industry on the legal sector. The company's concerns were underscored by the fourth-quarter results, which indicated yet another period of diminishing player engagement with legal gambling options. ATG criticized the government for what it deemed as ineffective regulation, pointing out the absence of any signs indicating a reversal of the negative trend.
Hans Lord Scarpleth, CEO of ATG, expressed particular alarm over the growth of the unlicensed gambling sector. Citing studies, Scarpleth emphasized the need for additional measures to address operators who continue to operate without proper authorization in the country. ATG called for urgent action to combat the rise of unlicensed gambling and safeguard the integrity of the legal gambling industry in Sweden.
