Betsson Shifts Brands to New Company Following Finnish Lockdown

In response to being banned from operating in Finland by the Finnish National Police Board, gambling company Betsson has transferred its online gambling brands to a new holding company named Rizk Nordic Limited. This move allows Rizk to provide gaming services to customers in the European Union, excluding Sweden and Ireland. Rizk holds a license from the Malta Gaming Authority.

Previously, Betsson's operations were associated with another organization, BML Group. Legal experts suggest that the change in the holding company aims to circumvent the Finnish police order that blocked payments on February 29. The ban required financial institutions to block all transactions from Finland to Betsson's accounts. Betsson may have leveraged the legal technicality that the law applies to a specific licensee, not individual brands, to bypass the payment ban.
