Brazil Develops Real-Time Gambling Fraud Monitoring System

Brazilian authorities are in the process of implementing a monitoring system designed to oversee the gambling market in real time. This system will record each transaction within online casinos or bookmakers, creating a dedicated register that enables regulators to maintain comprehensive oversight.

Developed by the Brazilian Federal Data Processing Agency (Serpro), the system aims to identify tax fraud, monitor activities, and identify unscrupulous players. Additionally, authorities plan to leverage the platform to detect instances of match-fixing within Brazil.

Francisco Mansour, Special Advisor to the Ministry of Finance, highlighted that the integrated system can demonstrate "not only the correctness of tax payments but also possible fraud, the negative effects of gambling, and even manipulation of the results of sports matches."
