Caesars Entertainment Announces Sale of Popular Poker Brand
Caesars Entertainment has revealed its decision to sell the World Series of Poker (WSOP) brand to NSUS Group (NSUS) for $500 million. Under the terms of the agreement, Caesars will retain the right to host the flagship WSOP live tournament series at its Las Vegas casinos for the next 20 years. Additionally, the physical poker rooms managed by Caesars will continue to operate under the WSOP brand, and Caesars locations will maintain the rights to host live WSOP Circuit events. Furthermore, Caesars Digital will have the licence to continue running its WSOP Online poker operations in Nevada, New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
Eric Hession, president of Caesars Digital, commented, “This deal is a significant milestone for Caesars, allowing the WSOP brand to progress further. We are eager to see how NSUS will enhance the legacy of the WSOP, and we look forward to being a part of that journey.” Michael Kim, CEO of NSUS Group, expressed enthusiasm about their new leadership role with the WSOP, stating, “Having partnered with Caesars Entertainment for many years, NSUS Group, the operators of GGPoker, is thrilled to take the helm of the world’s most iconic poker brand.”
He also emphasised their commitment to utilising GGPoker’s advanced technology and industry insights to create a prosperous future for the WSOP, promising players a more sophisticated, secure, and seamless poker experience. The sale is pending regulatory approval, with expectations for completion before the end of 2024.
