Macau casino revenue totalled $2.20 billion in June, the lowest monthly figure since November last year.
May continued to be the top revenue-generating month in 2024, showing levels similar to before the pandemic. This could be attributed to the surge in visits during the Labour Day holidays, a trend that typically boosts attendance at casinos. Conversely, June is typically considered the slowest month for gambling establishments in Macau, as noted by analysts.
In July, Macau's top casino operators will start announcing their first-half results. Following positive first-quarter results, it is expected that major players like Las Vegas Sands, Melco, SJM, and Wynn will continue to show strong growth. Las Vegas Sands, for example, reported a 39.6% increase in revenue to $2.96 billion in the first quarter, with $1.81 billion generated from its Macau operations, marking a 41.6% growth from the previous year.
SJM Holdings, which operates exclusively in the Macau market, posted first-quarter revenue growth of 73.0%, while Melco Resorts & Entertainment also reported a 55.2% increase.
MGM Resorts International's revenue in the Macau market reached a record $1.06 billion in the same first quarter. The group's revenue for the quarter also jumped 13.2% to a record $4.83 billion.
