Chinese Embassy Urges Citizens to Avoid Singapore Casinos
Chinese Embassy in Singapore has issued a statement urging Chinese citizens to refrain from engaging in any form of gambling while in the city-state. The embassy cited violations of Chinese laws regarding overseas gambling as the reason for the advisory. Singapore is home to two prominent casinos: Marina Bay Sands and Genting Singapore Resort World Sentosa.
In their statement, Chinese diplomats emphasized that Chinese nationals should avoid participating in gambling activities while in Singapore. This advisory comes amid increased sanctions imposed by China on its citizens found to be involved in gambling in Southeast Asia.
The embassy officials highlighted the various risks associated with gambling, including fraud, money laundering, human trafficking, and smuggling. Similar warnings have also been issued recently by Chinese embassies in other countries such as South Korea and Sri Lanka.
