A study conducted by the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse in Connecticut revealed that 1.8% of the state's residents are grappling with gambling addiction. The survey, with over 5,000 respondents, highlighted that 93.5% of them considered recreational activities as either "not at all" or "not very" important.
Concerningly, 67.2% of the participants expressed the belief that the potential harm from gambling outweighs its benefits. Additionally, a significant 69.2% identified addiction as the most substantial risk associated with legalized gambling in the state.
Regarding responsibility for minimizing the adverse effects of gambling, 70.8% of respondents indicated that it lies with both players themselves and online casino operators. Conversely, only 17.3% of Connecticut residents expressed dissatisfaction with the state government's efforts to mitigate risks for gamblers.
