Crackdown on Illegal Online Gaming Operations in the Philippines Leads to Arrests

Philippine law enforcement agencies, in coordination with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), have conducted successful raids targeting illegal gaming operations and online fraud. Two raids in Laguna and Parañaque resulted in the arrest of ten Chinese citizens and 26 Filipinos.

PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco emphasized the importance of protecting the public, especially young people, from illegal gambling sites. He stated, "We are receiving reports of illegal online activities, including on social media platforms. As the country’s gambling regulator, we have a responsibility to protect the public."

The operations also led to the rescue of nine Filipino workers and the seizure of various electronic devices, credit cards, vehicles, and Chinese government documents. This crackdown underscores the government's commitment to combatting illegal online gaming activities in the Philippines.
