Curacao opens new window for gambling licensing
The Curacao Gaming Control Board (GCB) has revealed that it will be reopening its online application portal for B2C, B2B, and B2B2B licences on July 15th. The previous application period for Curacao had closed on April 30, which was the final date for submitting sublicences.
Originally set to end on March 31, the deadline was extended by nearly a month to address any application issues. Starting at 00:01 on Monday, operators in the B2C, B2B2C, and B2B2B categories will have the opportunity to apply for a renewed licence.
Applications submitted before April 30 will continue to hold priority, meaning that new documents will not be processed until all current applications are completed. Basic licences expiring in January 2025 will automatically expire when the new regulation takes effect, as clarified by the GCB.
The National Gambling Ordinance, an updated regulatory framework, has been in development since September 2023 when the GCB initiated the licensing process. In March, the regulator released a document outlining application guidelines, with only minor adjustments made before the new application window opened, such as the removal of the requirement for an authorisation letter for portal users.
