Dark times: European operators fear a resurgence of the black market

CEOs from top operators like Bet365, Flutter, Entain, Evoke, Kindred, and Betsson are cautioning that stricter regulations on gambling and betting in Europe may result in a surge of illicit gambling activities throughout the continent.

CEOs of leading operators expressed their concerns in the annual sustainability report of the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA).
The Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Sweden were mentioned as examples, where stricter conditions and locations of services have already led to an increase in illegal gambling.

The matter is also aggravated by the offshore market, where the player’s safety can be completely ignored. Gamers prefer bonuses and offers that legal operators cannot afford. Increased regulation will only make this problem worse.
