The three land-based casinos in Detroit reported a combined revenue of $94.4 million for January, reflecting an 8.8% decline compared to the same month in 2023. Of this total, $93.9 million was generated from table games and slots, while an additional $500 thousand came from sportsbooks. The revenue figures also marked an 18.8% decrease compared to the previous month.
Among the three casinos, MGM contributed 48% to the total earnings, MotorCity accounted for 30%, and Greektown's Hollywood Casino represented 22%. The revenue of MGM declined by 11.3% compared to January 2023, MotorCity saw a 10.4% decrease, while Hollywood Casino recorded a milder drop of 2.0% to $22.2 million.
In January 2024, the three casinos collectively paid $7.6 million in taxes to the state of Michigan, down from $8.4 million for the same month in 2023.
