The Dominican Republic has declared a state of emergency for all gambling and betting operators following the enforcement of new regulations. Notably, the blacklist comprises several renowned international brands, such as Betway, Betsson, Interwetten, Betfair Colombia, bet365, Mr Green Casino, 888Sport, and William Hill. Presently, none of these operators hold a gambling license, with a total of 41 operators listed.
Earlier announcements from Dominican Republic authorities outlined new rules to regulate online gambling, signaling that unlicensed operators would be barred from operating within the country. The introduction of these regulations is anticipated to cultivate a competitive and lucrative gambling market in the Dominican Republic, according to major industry stakeholders.
Obtaining a new permit for gambling activities in the Dominican Republic comes with a price tag of $346 thousand, while a betting license carries a slightly lower cost of $260 thousand. Additionally, a third category for "other applications" will be available at a fee of $170 thousand.
