DraftKings is shutting down its NFT marketplace

DraftKings is closing its NFT marketplace, which was launched in 2021. In March 2022, the company introduced Reignmakers and collaborated with DJ Steve Aoki for its promotion.

However, the initiative was short-lived. A notice on the NFT marketplace's website announced its immediate shutdown, allowing customers with Reignmaker digital game units to return them for a cash refund.

"At DraftKings, innovation and delivering the best experience for our customers are central to our mission. While Reignmakers and our NFT marketplace achieved success in a brief period, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue them due to recent legal developments," a DraftKings spokesperson stated to SBC Americas.

This announcement came shortly after a Massachusetts District Court judge denied DraftKings' motion to dismiss a lawsuit from Justin Dufault, who claims that the NFT marketplace and its tokens are unregistered securities and has filed documents naming DraftKings executives Jason Robins, Matt Kalish, and Jason Park.
