Due to a strike in Michigan, poker players are moving to Canada

A strike involving 3,700 workers at two casinos in Detroit has led to the temporary closure of poker rooms at Motor City Casino and MGM Grand Detroit. This strike includes workers from five different unions and inadvertently supports Canadian gambling tourism, as the nearest operating casino is just a short drive across the border.

Gordon Orr, CEO of Tourism Windsor-Essex Pelee Island (TWEPI), offered an alternative for players who bet in Detroit. He invited them on a short trip across the border to Caesars Windsor, a world-class casino with no labor disputes.Orr emphasized that the Canadian casino provides quality gambling entertainment without having to cross picket lines, making it an attractive alternative for casino-goers in the U.S. who want to avoid the effects of the Detroit workers' strike.

Suzanne Tompkins, public relations and communications manager at Caesars Windsor, also welcomes international visitors and emphasizes the amenities of this world-class casino. She said: "Caesars Windsor is our premier tourist attraction. We have everything - world-class gaming, a 5,000-seat Coliseum with top-notch entertainment, gaming, and, of course, restaurants”
