New York City Councilman Francisco Moya has voiced his support for the proposal to establish a casino in Queens, backing Met owner Steve Cohen's ambitious plan to develop an $8 billion entertainment complex adjacent to Citi Field.
Moya expressed his belief that the casino project, known as Metropolitan Park, aligns with the area's development trajectory and would contribute positively to the city as a whole. However, realizing the project would require legislative approval to reclassify the land surrounding Citi Field, currently designated as parkland.
In contrast, State Senator Jessica Ramos has criticized the initiative, denouncing Cohen and Moya's advocacy for the project and labeling them as lobbyists.
Queens, situated on Long Island, is New York City's largest borough after Brooklyn and ranks as the second most populous borough in the city.
