A survey conducted by GambleAware, a UK organization focused on preventing and treating gambling harm, reveals approval for the government's proposed measures. The UK Gambling Commission plans to introduce enhanced financial risk checks, and the survey indicates that three out of five adults (57%) support these measures.
The highest level of support came from individuals affected by gambling addiction, either personally or through loved ones. Over 75% believe that gambling companies should be held responsible for the rise in gambling-related issues.
Additionally, 67% believe that enhanced checks would help reduce the number of problem gamblers. GambleAware CEO Zoe Osmond calls on the government to implement robust preventative measures.
