The National Council of Legislative Gaming States (NCLGS) is set to convene a summit featuring representatives from the gambling industry and regulatory bodies. The primary focus of the meeting will revolve around discussions on various challenges and prospects facing the industry. The Council conducts regular meetings, with the most recent one held in the summer of 2023. The upcoming winter session is scheduled to commence in Las Vegas in early January.
The summit aims to address issues related to illegal gambling, fantasy sports, and the ongoing legalization efforts of online gambling across different states in the U.S. Presently, sports betting and online casino gaming are legal in states such as Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Michigan, West Virginia, Delaware, and New Jersey. Rhode Island and Nevada are contemplating entry into the gambling market, with the latter proposing plans for the establishment of gambling establishments featuring poker tables.
Brendan Bassman, a consultant in the gambling industry, noted that representatives from Maryland and New York authorities would be in attendance. The potential launch of online gambling in these states is expected to be a significant topic of discussion during the summit.
