Google has revealed its intention to broaden support for more real money gaming (RMG) apps on the Play Store, encompassing gambling arcades, slots, roulettes, online casinos, and applications "not subject to the existing licensing system." The expansion is slated to begin in June 2024, with a focus on India, Mexico, and Brazil. Google plans to extend this approach to additional countries in the future.
Google initiated efforts to include RMG apps, where users invest money to win prizes, on the Play Store in 2021. These games are made available in regions where local legislation permits participation in gambling activities. Furthermore, Google envisions establishing a separate store for online gambling, encompassing apps even without the requisite licensing from developers.
