Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), an integrated resort in Singapore, has revealed that the Hard Rock Hotel Singapore will cease operations and undergo a complete reconstruction starting early March. This transformation is a pivotal component of RWS's expansion strategy, with plans for extensive redevelopment initiated following the hotel's acquisition by a Singaporean entity from the American company Hard Rock.
Opened in January 2010, the Hard Rock Hotel Singapore boasts around 360 rooms. The parent company, RWS Genting Singapore, had previously announced ambitious expansion plans in 2019, allocating an estimated $2.8 billion for the project. The initial phase, known as RWS 2.0, commenced in the second quarter of 2022, featuring the enlargement of Universal Studios Singapore and the SEA Aquarium, set to be rebranded as the Singapore Aquarium.
In November 2023, the board of directors at Genting Singapore approved a $5 billion fund for further enhancements to the Resorts World Sentosa.
