An Indiana man finds himself in legal jeopardy after attempting to conceal his casino winnings to circumvent paying child support. Lance Halderman, aged 44, is facing potential imprisonment for orchestrating a scheme to receive his winnings through a third party, thereby eluding the confiscation of funds earmarked for child support.
Reports indicate that Halderman's previous winnings were seized in June 2023 when his outstanding child support balance exceeded $2,200. Indiana law empowers authorities to confiscate gambling proceeds and other income sources from parents who fail to meet their child support obligations promptly and in full.
Despite previous repercussions, Halderman attempted to evade the system once more by surreptitiously obtaining winnings exceeding $2,000. However, his subterfuge was ultimately uncovered, leading to criminal charges against him. Halderman now faces the possibility of up to 30 months behind bars for his actions.
