Indonesia to Form Task Force to Combat Online Gambling

Indonesian Minister of Communications and Information, Budi Arye Setiadi, has unveiled plans to establish an integrated task force dedicated to eradicating online gambling in the country. The task force is expected to be formed within the upcoming week and will include 150 specialists, as previously indicated by the deputy minister.

In recent years, Indonesian authorities have intensified efforts to suppress the proliferation of gambling activities within the country. Setiadi highlighted that over the past six months alone, Indonesia has banned nearly a million different forms of gambling, including online platforms and applications. Additionally, law enforcement has shut down numerous establishments offering gambling services.

The newly proposed joint task force aims to address the issue of illegal online gambling through enhanced coordination between ministries and government departments. Specifically, the Ministry of Communications and Information will be responsible for removing online gambling sites, while law enforcement efforts will be carried out by relevant institutions and law enforcement agencies.
