The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) in Thailand has initiated an investigation into the alleged involvement of a deputy national police chief, Paul Gen Surachate Hakparna, in a significant online gambling network. Authorities claim that Hakparna and four other defendants were implicated in the establishment of an online gambling platform.
This case is closely tied to another investigation, wherein Deputy Chief Police Investigator Paul Kol Phakphum Phitasamai and seven others are accused of being part of the same online gambling network. While the NACC will examine both cases, it lacks the authority to conduct independent investigations. Police investigators may continue to explore the criminal aspects, including network transactions, and new names, potentially high-ranking police officers, could be added to the list of those involved and accused.
