MGM Resorts has agreed with Japanese partners to certify the creation of a resort with gambling facilities on the artificial island of Yumeshima near Osaka, Japan's third most populous city. The corporation Orix has coordinated a 10 billion dollar project with Osaka Prefecture.
MGM Resorts CEO Bill Hornbuckle stated that his company plans to transfer its Las Vegas expertise to Osaka and build the country's first gambling resort, "which the Japanese will be proud of." He specified that the complex is planned to open in 2030.
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida noted that the Yumeshima resort would contribute to the country's economic growth and become a tourist attraction that "will spread the charm of Japan to other countries."
