Kazakhstan has suggested the establishment of a unified register to track illegal online casinos, as discussed during a meeting of the working group of the Coordination Council of heads of CIS tax investigation authorities. The participants acknowledged the effectiveness of information exchange on illegal gambling and focused on combating financial pyramids, proposing their inclusion in the register alongside underground online casinos. Following these discussions, Kazakh authorities launched the operational and preventive operation "Jackpot" to counter illegal gambling activities.
On November 1, Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov highlighted gambling addiction as the second major issue in the country after alcoholism. In response, the government proposed measures such as banning the advertising of bookmakers and online casinos and raising the age limit for gamers to 25 years.
