The Netherlands Gaming Authority (KSA) has announced a delay in the publication of its amended Responsible Gaming Policy Rules, pushing the release from May to June 2024. The decision to postpone the publication date was attributed to delays from stakeholders, particularly major market players.
In December 2023, the KSA initiated a consultation process involving operators, gambling addiction treatment specialists, and gambling experts to propose changes aimed at enhancing operators' responsibility towards players. While the majority of the proposed amendments will come into effect immediately upon publication on June 3, certain provisions requiring significant IT adjustments for online providers will be exempt from immediate implementation.
The postponement is intended to allow all stakeholders involved in the consultation process ample time to provide their input and thoroughly assess the proposed changes. This delay underscores the KSA's commitment to ensuring a comprehensive and well-informed approach to updating its Responsible Gaming Policy Rules.
