The Dutch Gambling Authority (KSA) has uncovered 14 websites that were promoting illegal online casinos, contributing to the risk of gambling addiction among users. The regulator discovered instances where individuals previously registered in the national self-exclusion system (CRUKS) were still able to access games through four of these websites without stringent verification.
Conducting investigations into 33 news platforms and their affiliates, the KSA identified a concerning lack of affiliation with the government's CRUKS platform. This absence of association may encourage individuals seeking to cease gambling to inadvertently participate again.
This discovery comes in the context of the existing ban on targeted gambling advertising in the Netherlands, which restricts promotions across various media channels. The identified websites were found to be in violation of these regulations.
