The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has taken the decision to revoke the license of online gambling operator BTM Entertainment Group. According to the MGA, the operator has been instructed to settle all outstanding fees within a week from the date of notification, which was issued on March 22. The MGA also stated that the decision is subject to appeal.
Previously, BTM Entertainment Group held a license from the Malta regulator for B2C gambling services. However, the company faced suspension of its activities in the country several years ago, leading to the revocation of its license in early 2019. Despite this, the license remained valid until the end of March 2024. BTM Entertainment Group operated the online gambling brand Roy Richie.
The MGA has not disclosed the specific reason behind the revocation of the license. This recent development follows the similar fate of Rush Gaming, another company that lost its license to operate. Like BTM Entertainment Group, the reason for Rush Gaming's license cancellation was not disclosed by the regulator. Rush Gaming's operations were suspended in January 2024, and its license was subsequently revoked just two months later.
