A resident of Kazakhstan faced legal action after attempting to sell his kidney for $18 thousand to an unidentified online buyer in a desperate bid to clear his gambling debts. The Ministry of Internal Affairs in the country revealed that the individual advertised his organ for sale on the internet, emphasizing that the recipient's side would need to handle arrangements for surgery and transplantation.
Law enforcement became aware of the situation when police officers, posing as potential buyers, engaged with the seller. Upon the arrest, the man admitted to needing the money to settle a $17.5 thousand debt stemming from his struggles with gambling addiction. The Ministry of Internal Affairs did not specify the creditor.
