Manager of Christchurch Gambling Venue Admits to Stealing Over $110,000

Mark Sini, a gambling manager in Christchurch, New Zealand, has confessed to embezzling more than $110,000 in gambling grants from the gambling machines at Robbies Riccarton, a fourth-class establishment. The admission came following an investigation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which revealed that Sini had unlawfully obtained funds over a two-year period.

In New Zealand, class four establishments refer to slot machines located outside of casinos, typically found in pubs or clubs. These machines are regulated, and revenue generated from them is designated for specific government-mandated purposes, such as funding sports organizations.

The grants in question were intended to support these sports organizations, but Sini illegally diverted the funds for personal gain. As a result, he now faces charges of forgery and theft. Sini is scheduled to be sentenced on June 12, where the full extent of his actions will be addressed by the court.
