Several senators from the Mexican Labor Party have put forth a proposal aiming to limit the issuance of casino licenses. The legislation suggests that the Interior Ministry should only grant licenses to operators within the first three years of a new government.
Giovanna Banuelos, the coordinator of the Labor Party parliamentary group, highlighted the need for greater control over the number of gambling establishments in Mexico. She pointed out that during Vicente Fox's presidency, 340 casino licenses were issued, and the proposed measure seeks to regulate this number.
Banuelos emphasized that the limitation on licenses could benefit existing operators, as customers would be directed to the established establishments, fostering a more controlled and stable gambling environment in the country.
