American casino operator Mohegan has announced the opening of a new Inspire resort with limited access in South Korea. The complex at the Incheon International Airport will be fully operational in the first half of 2024, but guests will be welcomed starting November 30, 2023.
For the first visitors, three towers will open, featuring a hotel, more than ten restaurants, and a multifunctional arena for large-scale concerts — the first of its kind in South Korea. At the beginning of next year, the Inspire Mall shopping center and an exclusive casino for foreigners will begin operations on the resort's premises.
Chairman of the Board of the parent company Mohegan Tribe, James Gessner, stated that the "soft opening," i.e., the launch of the gaming establishment with limited access, is an "important milestone" and a significant event in the organization's history.
In South Korea, gambling is prohibited by law, and moreover, Koreans are not allowed to visit casinos even outside their homeland. Free access to the casino is only available to foreigners and guests of the country.
