Moscow Policeman's Suicide Linked to Gambling Debt
In a heartbreaking turn of events, a Moscow police officer took his own life at his workplace after facing dire consequences from his involvement in sports betting. According to reports from the Baza telegram channel, the 38-year-old warrant officer, identified as Nikolai R., tragically succumbed to debt-related pressures stemming from his gambling activities.
The devastating incident unfolded on the morning of May 1 when Nikolai's lifeless body was discovered in the dining area of a building located on Khachaturyan Street. Found near him was his service pistol, suggesting the manner of his demise. Sources close to the investigation revealed that Nikolai had bet on a victory for Real Madrid over Bayern in a recent match, but his hopes were dashed when the outcome did not favor his wager.
It's been disclosed that Nikolai's downward spiral began with mounting financial losses incurred through gambling. In a desperate attempt to recoup his losses, he resorted to using his own apartment as collateral, only to face further setbacks as his bets failed to yield favorable results. His final gamble was placed on the Champions League semi-final match between Bayern and Real Madrid, which ended in a draw.
As authorities delve into the circumstances surrounding Nikolai's tragic death, it serves as a stark reminder of the destructive consequences of unchecked gambling habits.
