Nepal's government has identified financial irregularities among three leading casinos in the country - Central Media, Ratna Services, and Venue Creation. The trio collectively failed to fulfill financial obligations totaling more than $1.3 million in 2023. These establishments, responsible for paying royalties and other fees, now risk the renewal of their gaming licenses, as reported by Republica.
Central Media tops the list with outstanding dues of 80 million rupees ($963,666), followed by Ratna Services with over 20 million rupees ($241,000), and Venue Creation with dues exceeding 10 million rupees ($120,458).
According to the Nepal Finance Bill, casino operators are required to pay 40% of the fees by mid-January, 30% by mid-April, and the remaining 30% by mid-July annually for license renewal. Currently, Nepal's tourism department oversees 30 licensed casinos, including prominent establishments within five-star hotels.
