Due to wildfires spreading in Oklahoma, two casinos—Native Lights and 7 Clans First Council—were evacuated. Both establishments, owned by the Tonkawa and Otoe Missouri Indians, are situated on the Oklahoma-Kansas border, where fires have been raging for several days.
Residents living near the Kansas border were also instructed to evacuate as the wildfires approached. The dense smoke generated by the fires affected visibility and disrupted local traffic in Kay County.
Firefighters struggled to contain the situation initially, but later updates from the Key Emergency Management Agency reported successful efforts in halting the fire's advance, preventing it from reaching the two casinos. Nevertheless, the risk persists, given the windy weather conditions that could potentially aid the fire's spread into Oklahoma.
