In a significant move towards promoting responsible gaming practices, the Government of Ontario has announced a landmark investment of $9 million into the Responsible Internet Gaming Foundation (RIGF), to be disbursed over a three-year period. Described as "monumental" by the Financial Post, this investment marks a significant milestone for the Responsible Gaming Council of Canada (RGC).
The infusion of additional funding will empower the RGC to bolster its efforts in consumer education initiatives, expand its outreach programs within communities, and forge partnerships with local organizations dedicated to promoting responsible gaming practices.
Shelley White, CEO of the Responsible Gaming Council, lauded Ontario's commitment to responsible gaming, describing the investment as a "game-changer" in advancing prevention education and programs. She emphasized Ontario's emergence as a trailblazer in fostering transparent and meaningful gambling practices nationwide.
As an independent nonprofit organization, the Council for Responsible Gaming remains steadfast in its mission to prevent problem gambling and ensure the well-being of individuals within the gaming community. The substantial investment from the Ontario government underscores a shared commitment to fostering a safe and responsible gaming environment for all.
