Pattaya Plans to Legalize Gambling

The city of Pattaya in Thailand is considering legalizing gambling, with Mayor Poramase Ngampiches endorsing the Integrated Entertainment Bill aimed at establishing legalized casinos.

Media reports indicate that Mayor Poramase sees the bill as an opportunity to introduce a new economic dimension to Pattaya. He drew comparisons to Singapore's tourism model, where casinos play a significant role. Poramase emphasized the need for clear regulations from the government, even after legalization.

One of the proposed gambling complexes would be situated in the spacious area of Jomtien, a suburb of Pattaya, which offers ample free land spanning over 1.6 square kilometers. Wattanaphon Fonchiwin, President of the Real Estate Association, highlighted the potential benefits of the casino project for Pattaya, including job creation, increased housing demand, tourism growth, and overall economic development for the city.
