Primorye gaming zone received 3.1 million visitors in 9 months of 2023

Russia's Primorye gaming zone reports a recovery in tourism, although foreign tourism is still limited.

Nevertheless, the number of visits has significantly exceeded 2022 levels, indicating that the region is recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic. This gambling zone is located in Russia's Primorsky Krai, on the coast of the Far Eastern Federal District. In the first nine months of this year, it had about 3.1 million visitors, up 16% from a year earlier. Most of them (2 million people) arrived in the third quarter.

However, the gambling zone still has yet to reach the level of international appeal. Of the total number of visitors, only 56,000 were foreigners. This is 10 times more than last year. Although the number of foreign visitors is increasing, sanctions and restrictions imposed on Russia, as well as the Ukrainian conflict, are having a negative impact.

In any case, attendance is slowly but surely recovering to pre-pandemic levels. In 2019, 5 million people visited the area, and 4.5 million in 2018.

Attendance data provided by the tourism agency indicates that the region is moving toward its 2023 goal of 3.5 million visitors. That's 500,000 more people than in 2022.
