On March 1, the Puerto Rico Senate dismissed proposed new regulations for slot machines presented by the Gaming Commission. The proposed measures aimed to amend the regulation of license costs and revenue distribution.
The document outlined administrative processes, criteria, rules, requirements, functions, responsibilities, and rights for individuals holding or seeking to obtain a slot machine license. Additionally, it specified operational and supervisory procedures for the Gaming Commission.
One provision of the proposal stipulated allocating at least 50% of gaming proceeds to Puerto Rico police retirees. However, regional authorities opted not to adopt the legislation.
