Quebec Lotto Plans to Construct Casino and Luxury Hotel in Montreal
CEO of Loto-Québec, Jean-François Bergeron, has unveiled a new venture involving the development of a casino accompanied by a luxury hotel in Montreal. The hotel, boasting 200 rooms, is scheduled to open its doors in three years, with construction costs estimated at $150 million, as stated by Bergeron.
The proposal has garnered approval from Quebec Tourism Minister Caroline Proulx and Montreal Mayor Valerie Plante. They believe that, given the tourism industry's ongoing recovery from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the hotel project will breathe new life into Parc Jean-Drapeau and contribute to the growth of the east end of Montreal.
Established in 1969, Loto-Québec is a corporation in the Canadian province of Quebec and serves as the regulatory authority for lotteries and gambling, both in brick-and-mortar casinos and online. Notably, Loto-Québec differs from other jurisdictions as it not only oversees but also owns and operates gambling establishments.
