The Republic of Cyprus has introduced a national self-exclusion platform as part of the government's responsible gaming strategy for 2022-2025. This platform allows users to voluntarily restrict their access to online casinos, sports betting, or other gambling sites for a specified period or permanently.
Users who voluntarily enroll in the program will be prevented from registering new accounts on gambling platforms, retaining only the ability to withdraw funds from their existing accounts.
Ioanna Fiaccou, President of the National Betting Authority of the Republic of Cyprus, emphasized the self-exclusion platform's effectiveness in promoting responsible gambling behavior. She urged individuals to register on the self-exclusion website, citing its importance in the ongoing efforts to combat match-fixing.
Cyprus, both in the southern and northern parts, features a significant number of land-based casinos and a well-established gambling industry.
