Spelinspektionen, the Swedish gambling authority, has issued bans against three companies operating in Sweden: Newera Frozen PTE Limited, Apdrodi LTD, and Galaktika NV. These restrictions come as a response to Swedish customers being able to access the online platforms of these operators and create accounts, despite the lack of proper licensing to operate in Sweden.
During its investigation, Spelinspektionen found that the Newera brand was offering skin gambling services in the Swedish market. This involved providing opportunities to win additional content for various online video games such as CS2, Dota 2, and Rust. Notably, the platform was also designed in Swedish, indicating targeted marketing efforts towards Swedish consumers.
Similarly, Apdrodi offered skin gambling services through its key-drop website, allowing users to bet on their chances of winning more valuable virtual content. In cases of unsuccessful bets, users would lose all the loot.
Regarding Galaktika, the operator was found to have conducted marketing campaigns in Swedish without proper authorization. Although Galaktika claimed that its advertising efforts were aimed at Europe as a whole and not specifically targeting Sweden, Spelinspektionen deemed the actions as a violation of Swedish gambling regulations.
These bans underscore Spelinspektionen's commitment to enforcing strict regulations to protect Swedish consumers from unauthorized and potentially harmful gambling activities.
